Message from President
President David Meyer
Washington County Board Chair
On behalf of United Counties Council of Illinois, its members, staff and myself … welcome to our website.
Launched in 2017, our website continues to meet the goal of the UCCI Executive Committee to serve not only its members but also those seeking information about UCCI or topics of interest to county government.
As a statewide organization of county boards, UCCI provides numerous services to Illinois counties and county officials. These services include tracking proposed legislation, providing legislative input on specific issues that impact county government, and the legal ramifications of newly amended statutes. Also, as you browse our website, you will find a major focus of UCCI is providing educational opportunities to county officials, through its Leadership Academy developed in partnership with the University of Illinois as well as various educational programs presented throughout the year by Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust, state agency directors, practicing attorneys and other elected officials.
In 2015, the “Practical Guide to County Government Law” was published by UCCI as a reference guide that provides an overview of issues county governments and officials may face. This handbook has proven to be a valuable source of information for both new and experienced county officials. On behalf of the UCCI Executive Committee, I am pleased to advise that an electronic version of this publication is also available to you through our website. This publication gives you a direct link to Attorney General opinions, Illinois Supreme Court rulings and statutes related to county government operations.
All of us, as members of a county board, share the common goal to best serve the citizens of our community. UCCI is here to provide training and resources necessary in the operation of county government. I invite you to familiarize yourself with the services and programs offered by UCCI as contained on our website.
We welcome your feedback.
Sincerely,
David Meyer
UCCI President
