Governor Delivers Combined State of the State Address/Budget Address

On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, from the Orr Building located at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Governor Pritzker remotely delivered a combined State of the State Address and Fiscal Year 2022 State Budget Address.

As reflected in the Governor's prepared remarks, the general funds budget presented for fiscal year 2022 spends $1.8 billion less than FY2021; and, reflects $400 million in additional cuts to appropriations, a hiring freeze, flat operational spending, full required pension payments, and the closure of unaffordable corporate loopholes. All in all, Governor Pritzker indicated, it reduces spending to meet projected revenues.
