Governor Signs Criminal Justice Reform Bill

As anticipated, the Criminal Justice Reform bill (HB3653) passed by the 101st Illinois General Assembly was signed into law by Governor Pritzker on Monday, February 22, 2021. A statewide tour by the Governor included stops in Chicago, Springfield, Champaign and Carbondale.  

Included within Public Act 101-0652, among other things, is ending cash bail, new 'Use of Force' standards and expanded 'Use of Force' training, officer body camera mandate, maintaining police conduct records, as well as a myriad of effective dates.
