Federal Aid Approved for Illinois Counties Impacted by December Severe Weather & Tornadoes

Severe storms and tornadoes ripped through six states on the evening of Friday, December 10, 2021, resulting in massive destruction, severe damage and loss of life ... Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi.

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, Governor Pritzker announced that his request for an emergency disaster declaration had been approved by the federal government, making federal assistance possible for Illinois counties impacted by the severe weather and tornadoes.  

The counties of Bond, Cass, Coles, Effingham, Fayette, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Moultrie, Pike and Shelby were approved under the emergency disaster declaration. Additional counties may be identified for federal assistance as the storm assessment continues.
