Minimum Wage Increases to $12 an hour on New Year's Day

Pursuant to legislation signed in 2019 by Governor Pritzker, on January 1, 2022 the minimum wage for workers in Illinois increases to $12 per hour.  This marks the third increase in the minimum wage since the wage hike legislation was signed into law, putting the state on the path to a $15 per hour minimum wage by 2025.

Prior to the minimum wage increase in 2020, the last time the minimum wage was raised in Illinois was more than a decade ago when it increased to $8.25.
