IEPA Interim Director James Jennings has announced ten upcoming Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) one-day collection locations for the Fall of 2024. These collection events are co-sponsored by units of local government and provide residents the free opportunity to safely dispose of unused or leftover hazardous products commonly found in homes.
One-day collections are held on Saturdays and are open to all Illinois residents and operate from 8AM to 3PM on the day of the event. Pre-registration is required for all fall collection events. One-day collection schedule:
- Aug 17 - Champaign
- August 31 - Taylorville & East Moline
- September 21 - Decatur
- September 28 - Bloomington
- October 12 - Oregon
- October 19 - Springfield
- October 26 - Dixon
- November 2 - Orland Park & Carbondale
In addition to the one-day collections, long-term collection facilities are available for disposal of HHW throughout the year in Naperville, Rockford, Chicago, Lake County and Madison County.
