COVID-19 Forces Cancellation of Fall Veto Session for the Illinois General Assembly

Members of the Illinois General Assembly were scheduled to return to Springfield on Tuesday, November 17th, for the Fall Veto Session.  However, Illinois legislative leaders have announced all scheduled veto session days have been cancelled amid the rising number of coronavirus infections seen in the Springfield area.

Fall Veto Session was scheduled for three days in each of the weeks before and after Thanksgiving. It will remain to be seen if lawmakers are called back to Springfield in 2020; but, additional session days could be scheduled in 2021 before the newly elected members of the House and Senate are sworn into office on Wednesday, January 13th.
